With regulatory approvals now in hand, health insurance giant WellPoint has completed its $100 million acquisition of DeCare Dental, according to news reports. The $100 million will go into a nonprofit trust fund to support dental care in Minnesota.
The acquisition does not include the three Delta Dental plans -- Delta Dental of Minnesota, Delta Dental of Nebraska, and Delta Dental of North Carolina -- that DeCare provides services to under existing contracts.
DeCare manages dental benefits for 4 million people in 22,000 employer groups.
