U.S. employee benefits provider Sun Life Financial has completed its acquisition of Medicaid dental benefits provider DentaQuest for approximately $2.5 billion.
In October, Sun Life announced it was to acquire DentaQuest from the nonprofit CareQuest Institute of Oral Health and minor shareholder and private investment management firm Centerbridge Partners. The acquisition is expected bring Sun Life's total annual benefits in the U.S. to more than $7 billion.
Headquartered in Boston and founded in 2001, DentaQuest has more than 33 million members in 36 states and more than 2,400 employees.
