Prosperident has unveiled First Look, a service that offers dentists a budget-friendly and speedy means of assessing their embezzlement risk and informs them whether a more in-depth investigation is needed.
According to Prosperident CEO David Harris, First Look was launched in response to dentists asking Prosperident if there was an "intermediate" version of the investigations that the company has provided to dentists for the past 35 years. These investigations are thorough but also typically take 10 to 12 weeks to conduct and can cost upward of $8,000.
"For the past 35 years, Prosperident has helped dentists deal with the scourge of employee theft in their practices," Harris said. "First Look represents a significant advancement in protecting the income of dentists from embezzlers. It provides an affordable and quick way for the embezzlement risk of a practice to be assessed. Given that about 10,000 dentists will be victims of embezzlement this year, First Look is an essential tool in a practice owner's toolbox."
When a dentist enrolls in First Look, he or she is guided through uploading certain key reports from their practice management software. An experienced member of Prosperident's team reviews the information and looks for six different types of anomalies that represent embezzlement risk factors.
The dentist then receives a full report of the findings and recommended action. If it proceeds to an in depth-investigation, the clinician will receive a partial credit for fees paid.
With a cost of $1,500 and a target turnaround of one week, First Look offers a way for dentists to "take the temperature" of their practices to see whether a deeper look is warranted.
