Pacific Dental Services (PDS) has fully deployed Epic's electronic health records (EHR) system into 100% of its supported dental practices.
The first launch of Epic's EHR solution at a PDS practice occurred in April 2020. Since then, PDS has successfully converted over 9.7 million patient records from its existing practice management software to Epic, spent 16,000 hours training 14,000 team members and clinicians, and integrated the new software with existing human resources departments.
PDS has now deployed Epic's EHR at more than 885 individual supported practices across 25 states and is the world's first dental service organization to enable dental and medical data integration, the company said in a news release.
Integrating a powerful health record system into a nationwide dental support organization holds the promise for improved oral-systemic care, PDS said. PDS supported clinicians can now digitally share important health information about their patients with other healthcare professionals, closing care gaps, reducing duplication, and promoting better overall health, the company said.
