In 2023, the American Dental Education Association (ADEA) celebrates 100 years of advancing dental education.

In 1923, ADEA was founded as the American Association of Dental Schools. In 2000, its name was changed to reflect and embrace the many facets of dental education. Currently, ADEA is the only U.S. organization representing dental education.

ADEA is celebrating its centennial in a number of ways throughout 2023, including the following actions:

    • An #IamADEA social media campaign in which members are invited to share what ADEA means to them in short videos and print testimonials
    • A series of interviews with leading ADEA leaders that will be published and shared with members
    • Guest editorials that will be published in every issue of ADEA's Journal of Dental Education in 2023
    • A centennial reception, micro-exhibits highlighting ADEA's history, and two one-time awards to honor exemplary mid-career faculty in dental schools and allied dental programs at the 2023 ADEA Annual Session and Exhibition, which will be held in Portland, OR, March 11-14, 2023
