The Delta Dental Community Care Foundation recently awarded a $250,000 access to care grant to the Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry at the University of the Pacific.
The university said the funds will support the launch of a teaching and patient care facility in the Oak Park neighborhood of Sacramento, CA. The facility will provide primary healthcare services to the public while providing an integrated clinical learning environment for students training to become dentists, pharmacists, physician assistants, and other healthcare providers.
The project will also include the expansion of the dental school's international dental studies program, as well as other programs in the school of health sciences. The facility will serve as a local clinic for vulnerable and underserved populations.
The university said architectural plans for the facility are currently being developed, with the expectation to open to the public in 2024.
