Dental students eligible for loan repayment program

The National Health Service Corps (NHSC) will accept applications from dental students for its Students to Service Loan Repayment Program beginning August 16 for the 2016-2017 school year.

Eligibility is open to medical and dental students in their final year of a U.S. accredited school, who are planning to pursue a career in primary care, and who are committed to working in underserved communities with limited access to care, according to the NHSC.

Applicants must be enrolled or accepted for full-time enrollment in a program during the 2016-2017 school year (applicant must begin classes by September 30, 2016).

Students to Service loan repayment recipients can receive as much as $120,000 (exempt from federal income tax) for at least three years of full-time service at an approved NHSC site in a health professional shortage area.
