U.S. Air Force opens new dental training center

The U.S. Air Force has opened a new $38 million training center at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio for military dentists, orthodontists, prosthodontists, and oral surgeons, My San Antonio reported.

The Air Force Post Graduate Dental School, part of the 59th Dental Group, the largest dental service in the military, will run clinics offering a variety of treatments for active duty personnel, retirees, and military families.

The 55,600-sq-ft facility has 69 treatment rooms and 5,400 sq ft of lab space with a staff of 125. The center will also host a maxillofacial prosthetics fellowship program, six residency programs, and two other fellow ship programs that will provide training for 74 dentists at a time.
