Leon Assael, DMD, CMM, has been named the new dean of the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry, effective August 1.
His appointment as the next dean of the dental school is pending approval by the university's board of regents, which is expected to act at its June 8 meeting, according to the university. Dr. Assael succeeds Interim Dean Judith Buchanan, PhD, DMD.
Dr. Assael is a graduate of Columbia University and earned his Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree from the Harvard University School of Dental Medicine and his Certificate in Medical Management (CMM) from the University of Kentucky, Gatton College of Business and Economics.
