Christopher Halliday, DDS, MPH, has been named the first dean of A.T. Still University's new Missouri School of Dentistry and Oral Health.
He will begin his duties June 1 after stepping down as assistant surgeon general and chief of staff to the surgeon general of the U.S., a position he has held since November 2010, according to a story in the Kirksville Daily Express.
Dr. Halliday, rear admiral in the U.S. Public Health Service, also previously served as director and chief dental officer of the Indian Health Service. He received his Doctor of Dental Surgery from the Marquette University School of Dentistry in 1987 and his Master of Public Health from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Public Health in 2002.
The new dental school, which will be based in Kirksville, MO, is scheduled to open in 2013.
