The process of implementing caries management by risk assessment (CAMBRA) in private practice, federal health centers, and government programs is the focus of the November issue of the Journal of the California Dental Association.
The issue includes articles from practitioners, third-party payors, and private philanthropy outlining each group's role in bringing about change and their own experiences with implementing CAMBRA protocols in practice, according to the California Dental Association (CDA).
Articles include one payor's experience with designing a plan to reimburse for risk-based, patient-centered services, and how practices can successfully implement the CAMBRA model in the current environment. Another article explores how CAMBRA is used in pediatric and general practices.
The journal also examines how an evidence-based risk assessment tool and caries disease intervention approach can be incorporated into federally qualified health center dental systems, as well as how to overcome obstacles.
