ADEA awards honor dental educators, students

The American Dental Education Association (ADEA) is now accepting applications for the 2012 ADEA Awards, which recognize excellence in teaching, scholarship, and research and provide funding for fellowship opportunities.

Educators and students from all predoctoral, allied, and advanced ADEA member institutions are encouraged to apply.

Scholarship award opportunities range from $1,000 to $15,000. Stipends and fellowships with awards up to $15,000 are available for participation in the ADEA Leadership Institute or for members interested in pursuing research in advocacy, educational policy, or equity and diversity. ADEA fellows spend three months at the ADEA office in Washington, DC, working with staff on projects aligned with their interests.

New this year is the ADEA/Crest Oral-B Scholarship for Predoctoral Students Pursuing Academic Careers, which confers two $5,000 scholarships for third- and fourth-year dental students who plan education beyond a doctoral degree and who have an interest in academic careers.

Awards recipients will be recognized at the 2012 ADEA annual meeting in Orlando, FL.
