Birner Dental Q1 revenues up, income down

Birner Dental Management Services reported revenues of $17.1 million for the first quarter of 2011 (end-March 31), a 3.8% increase over revenues of $16.4 million for the same quarter a year ago.

However, net income for the quarter fell to $386,000, a 27.7% decrease over net income of $534,356 for the fourth quarter of 2009.

The increase in revenue of $628,000 for the first quarter was attributed to $393,000 in additional revenue related to two offices opened in the first and fourth quarters of 2010 and an increase in same-store revenue (based on 62 offices open during each full quarter) of $236,000, Birner said in a press release.

While the company's Perfect Teeth dental offices generated strong financial results in the first quarter of 2011, the performance of Vantage Dental Implant Center negatively affected the company's earnings, the press release noted.
