The Dental Assisting National Board (DANB) has released a new online professional development course covering human resources for general and specialty dental practices.
DANB's Assessment-Based Certificate Program: HR Fundamentals is an interactive, e-learning course designed for dental office managers, dental assistants, receptionists, and hygienists. Dentists with varying degrees of knowledge in human resources of the dental office also may benefit from taking this course, the board noted.
The course covers topics such as planning for current and future staff, analyzing staffing needs as they relate to office structure, and developing clear job descriptions. Other subjects include identifying legal human resources issues, recognizing components in the interviewing and hiring process, and identifying elements of employee benefits and compensation plans.
The course can be purchased from the DANB website for $100, and learners who successfully complete the postcourse assessment can print a certificate of completion and earn six DANB continuing dental education credits.
