The Dental Assisting National Board (DANB) this month announced its first online courses, and long-term plans for a nonprofit educational and research foundation.
The first two e-learning courses are Conventional Dental Radiography Review and Assessment-Based Certificate Program: Accounts Receivable and can be found at www.danb.org/learning, the organization announced in its newsletter, Certified Press.
The radiography course is intended for chairside assistants or dental assisting students who have at least a basic understanding of dental radiography.
The accounts receivable course is intended for dental office managers, dental assistants, receptionists, hygienists and even dentists with varying degrees of knowledge about finances in dental practices.
Also in Certified Press, DANB said it is planning a separately incorporated, nonprofit educational and research foundation. The foundation still has no name, but has settled on a mission: "To develop and provide quality education and conduct sound research to support and promote oral health."
"DANB is very excited to introduce a nonprofit foundation, committed to education and research," said DANB Executive Director Cindy Durley. "This foundation will join other recognized national oral health care foundations to greatly benefit dental assistants and the dental community."
