Univ. of Iowa receives oral health grants

The Delta Dental of Iowa Foundation awarded more than $70,000 to 15 agencies in Iowa to promote oral health, the organization announced. The grants are intended to support one-time oral health projects or short-term projects such as a survey or data collection for up to one year.

The University of Iowa College of Dentistry received one such grant for $14,100 to fund a pediatric dentistry "boot camp" and a community-based dental education program, according to the foundation.

In related news, the University of Iowa College of Dentistry will receive $100,000 for dental public health specialty training from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). The HHS recently awarded six competitive grants totaling more than $1.2 million for Iowa projects, according to U.S. Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA).
