The chair of the department of periodontology at the University of North Carolina (UNC) at Chapel Hill School of Dentistry, Ray C. Williams, D.M.D., has been appointed the dean of the State University of New York at Stony Brook School of Dental Medicine, according to an ADA News article.

Dr. Williams, who joined the faculty of UNC-Chapel Hill in 1994, will start his new appointment in February.

"Dr. Williams has been an exemplary teacher, researcher, and colleague, to name just a few of the many ways in which he has contributed to the mission of our School of Dentistry and the promotion of oral health in our state and beyond," said John N. Williams, D.M.D., UNC dean, in the story.
