Boston University names new dental dean

Boston University last week named Jeffrey Hutter, D.M.D., M.Ed., dean of its Goldman School of Dental Medicine. Dr. Hutter served as acting dean for the past 10 months following the death of former Dean Spencer Frankl.

Prior to being appointed dean ad interim last October, Dr. Hutter served as the school's senior associate dean, and he is the Herbert Schilder chair of the department of endodontics.

Dr. Hutter is a past director of both the American Board of Endodontics and the American Association of Endodontists (AAE), as well as a past AAE president.

Dr. Hutter retired with the rank of captain from the U.S. Navy Dental Corps in 1996 after a 21-year career.
