Dental artificial intelligence (AI) software developer Overjet has received a Medical Device Establishment License from Health Canada for its radiograph analysis and annotation software.
Overjet said it is working with several of Canada's largest dental groups, insurers, and product distribution companies to implement the technology. The software analyzes dental x-rays in real time to detect cavities and calculus, as well as identify restorations, root canals, and other prior treatment. It also quantifies bone loss to aid in the diagnosis of periodontal disease, according to the company.
The software reviews the past 18 months of x-rays of every patient and cross-references with the treatment plans on file to identify patients with potentially undiagnosed conditions, Overjet said.
