Envista Holdings will install its artificial intelligence (AI)-assisted imaging software at practices supported by dental service organization (DSO) Pacific Dental Services.
The companies signed a multiyear contract in which Pacific Dental's practices will deploy Envista's DTX Studio Clinic software platform, which provides AI-supported image sorting and interpretation. Additionally, the companies will work to develop and deploy further AI capabilities via DTX. Pacific Dental currently supports more than 850 practices in the U.S.
The partnership comes weeks after an announcement that Envista is buying Carestream Dental's intraoral scanning technology business for $600 million. In December 2021, the companies said the sale, which includes Carestream's flagship CS3600, CS3700, and CS3800 intraoral scanner line and related software, would likely be completed in the second quarter of 2022.
