Dear DrBicuspid Member,
It's a frustration many dental practitioners experience: the development of white-spot lesions on a patient's teeth after they undergo orthodontic treatment.
Fluoride varnish is frequently prescribed to help ameliorate these lesions. But a new study presented last week at the American Association for Dental Research (AADR) meeting suggests that commercially available fluoride toothpastes may be just as effective. In other research presented at the AADR meeting, female dentists without minor children are three times more likely to work full time than those with minor children, and younger female dentists are more likely to work part time, according to a study conducted at the University of Iowa.
Finally, in Imaging & CAD/CAM Community news, a growing body of evidence points to a link between radiation exposure from dental x-rays and DNA damage and cytotoxicity in oral mucosa cells, according to a new lit review in Dentomaxillofacial Radiology.
