MyRay has introduced the Hyperion panoramic imager, which was created to simplify the entire digital radiograph acquisition process, the company said.
Hyperion features a face-to-face approach that reduces patients' anxiety, and two independent, touch-activated forehead supports gently steady the patient's head, according to MyRay. It also incorporates morphology recognition technology (MRT), which automatically identifies patient size and all parameters required to ensure correct x-ray exposure, the company noted.
"With MRT technology, there is no need to program exposure times or technical factors such as kV or mA levels, nor is it necessary to select patient build," MyRay said in a press release.
Fifteen different diagnostic programs are available through the intuitive control panel to satisfy any possible diagnostic need. The system provides standard and pediatric panoramic projections, frontal and lateral views of the maxillary sinuses, multiangle lateral and posterior-anterior views of the temporomandibular joint, and many more. Partial projections can be selected as a comfortable alternative to intraoral images for patients with a strong gag reflex, according to the company.
After panoramic acquisition, practitioners can use Hyperion's 3DTS feature to achieve small-field 3D views for single implant site evaluations. The operator can select a 40 x 40 x 100-mm area to further explore in 3D. A radiograph series of 1-mm cross-sectional slices allows volume browsing along the panoramic focal trough to provide precise 1:1 measurements, MyRay said.
Images can be stored on a memory card or shared over the local Ethernet network. Standard TWAIN connectivity enables direct image capture with any TWAIN-compliant third-party software. The Hyperion uses MyRay's rayMage software, which offers unlimited network licenses and unlimited updates; alternatively, any imaging program of choice can be used, the company said.
