Dental van workers sickened by x-ray chemicals

Employees working in a mobile dental van in Reno, NV, became ill after they inhaled noxious fumes from chemicals used to fix and develop x-rays, according to city officials.

The Saint Mary's Regional Medical Center van was parked outside of Roger Corbett Elementary School May 11 to provide free dental exams when the three workers made an error mixing the chemicals, said Michele Anderson, a public information officer for the city of Reno.

No children were in the van at the time. Emergency crews, including the city's hazardous materials team, were called to the scene, and the sickened workers returned to Saint Mary's.
