3Shape will update the software for its Trios intraoral scanner to allow users to export stereolithography (STL) file digital impressions from the Dental Desktop dashboard.
Currently, users can export STL computer-aided design files from the dashboard. The change will enable users to share STL files, a file type commonly accepted by dental laboratories and appliance creators, as well as other in-house software.
3Shape expects to release the software upgrade with the new STL export in the fourth quarter of 2017.
