Bellus3D has received a patent from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office for an automatic process that aligns multiple 3D face models of a patient with his or her intraoral scans.
The process eliminates the need to use external markers on a patient's face or mouth, and it results in the creation of 3D virtual models, according to the company. The goal is to allow dentists and dental labs to collaborate remotely using a patient's 3D model to make contextual adjustments in dental treatment planning.
