Following the 2010 launch of CarieScan Pro in the U.S. and Canada by CarieScan, a wholly owned subsidiary of 3D Diagnostic Imaging, the company has expanded its marketing activities into the rest of the world.
Recently, however, selling activity was temporarily affected by a manufacturing defect, CarieScan said. While the problem has now been rectified, this development has adversely impacted sales during the second half of the current financial year, according to the company. Losses are expected to be in the 2.4 million pounds ($3.4 million) range.
CarieScan Pro has now been relaunched with a number of enhancements to address the requirements of the U.S. market, the company said.
In related news, CarieScan has entered into a nonexclusive distribution agreement with Den-Pro Dental Supply to distribute CarieScan Pro in the U.K. This follows the signing of recent distribution agreements covering China, India, Germany, Austria, and Switzerland earlier this year, and is in addition to the company's existing distribution agreement with Patterson Dental in North America.
