Imaging sensor and system provider DALSA plans to invest $160 million in new research and development initiatives over the next five years, supported by a grant of $24 million from the Ontario, Canada, government.
The new technology created by these investments will fuel DALSA's growth through diversification as the company builds on core strengths in digital imaging and advanced semiconductor manufacturing, DALSA said in a press release.
Areas of particular focus include imaging in nonvisible bands, such as x-ray and infrared.
DALSA already offers CCD and CMOS image sensor technology for dental radiography, including cone-beam CT, panoramic, cephalometric, and intraoral imaging.
