CAD/CAM provider 3Shape has released Convince, a 3D quality control and inspection software package for dental and orthodontic companies.
Convince allows dental and orthodontics companies to introduce or upgrade quality control validation procedures, thereby achieving significant improvement in savings and production workflow efficiency, according to 3Shape. It is available either as a standalone platform or as an add-on software solution to the existing D700 CAD/CAM system for design and production.
"Dental companies are caught between the need to reduce operating costs and still continue production of innovative dental solutions," said Rune Risker, vice president of product strategy at 3Shape, in a press release. "Along with other potential constraints such as tight turnaround schedules, increasingly complex designs, and manufacturing and management across sites and time zones, it becomes even more important to ensure that quality is not compromised."
In addition to quality validation, the system can be used to perform digitization and reverse engineering. The obtained scans can be retained as detailed 3D models for use by the 3Shape Dental and Orthodontic software, or by reverse engineering software, thereby reducing production costs and increasing innovation without compromising excellence in precision.
