The International Association for Dental Research and the American Association for Dental Research announced that the Journal of Dental Research's two-year journal impact score is greater than six for the first time.

The impact ranking is one measure of a journal's importance within a field of study. The score reflects the number of times authors have cited that journal's publications in a two-year time period.

The Journal of Dental Research achieved a two-year score of 6.116, ranking fifth of 91 journals in the category of dentistry, oral surgery, and medicine. Meanwhile, the journal's five-year score exceeded seven for the first time, reaching 7.199 and placing it third out of the 91 journals.
