Henry Schein has reported higher net income and dental sales for its fiscal third quarter of 2017, despite being negatively impacted by hurricanes.
For the quarter (end-September 30), the company reported a net income of $138 million, an increase of 3.2% compared with the third quarter of 2016. Net sales were $3.2 billion, an increase of 10.3% compared with the same quarter of last year.
Dental sales increased 11.1% from the same quarter of last year to $1.5 billion. The dental consumables and equipment markets were negatively impacted by hurricanes and by the loss of a large dental service organization contract, the company noted. Henry Schein was one of several companies that offered relief for practices affected by Hurricanes Harvey and Irma.
