Philips' contest showcases power of innovation

Philips has launched an essay contest designed to celebrate the role of technology in improving dental care and patient compliance.

The contest, called the Power of Innovation Challenge, is open to all dentists, registered dental hygienists (RDHs), dental students, and dental hygiene students.

Philips urges all contestants to "leverage existing public research, your personal experiences, and nonproprietary, clinical observations to develop your submission on how technology and innovation have impacted the dental industry and helped increase patient satisfaction and/or compliance." Submitted essays should be no longer than 1,000 words.

The winning dentist and RDH will have the opportunity to have their essay featured in a renowned industry publication, while the winning dental student and dental hygiene student will have the opportunity to showcase their essay to industry leaders at the ADA annual session in October in San Francisco and have it featured in an industry publication.

The contest runs July 9 through September 4, 2012. Essays should be submitted to [email protected]. Contestants will be notified of the judging results on or about September 20, 2012.

Visit the Philips contest website to read the official rules and details on how to enter.
