Steute Meditech has introduced medical-grade wireless foot controls for use with dental systems, laser devices, surgical microscopes, and diagnostic camera systems.
Each of the units features the company's proprietary frequency-hopping technology to achieve safe, interference-immune performance, according to the company.
Operating in the 2.4 GHz band, this short-range technology (up to 10 m) provides continuous monitoring of the integrity of the bidirectional transmission path; a unique "handshaking" protocol to ensure discrete, device compatibility; and a floor sensor to protect against inadvertent operation, the company said. Multiple or different foot controls can be operated in parallel and in close proximity, without crosstalk or interference.
The wireless foot controls can provide up to 14 digital and two analog control functions and are powered by lithium batteries that provide up to one year of operation (depending upon the application).
