Could triclosan, a chemical long used in toothpaste and other consumer products to kill bacteria and prevent odors, be more harmful than researchers and regulators originally thought?

After some serious prodding by a U.S. congressman, combined with new animal studies that point to triclosan's negative effects on the endocrine system, the FDA is now reviewing the substance for the first time since 1997. But at least one toothpaste manufacturer claims it's still safe. Read more.
