Dental Trade Alliance Foundation calls for grant proposals

The Dental Trade Alliance Foundation (DTAF), which funds programs to improve oral healthcare, is accepting proposals for its 2010 grant program.

The organization supports early-stage innovative programs designed to increase the effectiveness of the oral healthcare system by encouraging changes in overall consumer behavior, improving access for underserved populations, and enhancing the efficiency of the system.

The four organizations that best address the mission of the foundation will each be awarded $25,000. Applications are welcome from -- but not limited to -- for-profit organizations, dental organizations, dental schools, universities, government, and/or community-based nonprofit groups for programs located in the U.S. and its territories.

The DTAF program committee will evaluate requests and may seek guidance from the Dental Trade Alliance Board and collaboration with the Santa Fe Group, a public health think tank.

The DTAF's priority is to award grants to projects that can leverage additional funding and expansion in other geographic areas.

Programs that are solely local in scope and do not appear to be reproducible nationally or over a greater population, thus limited to attracting additional outside funding for future years, will be considered but may be outside the scope of current funding parameters, the group said.

All proposals must be received no later than May 28, 2010.
