Celebrity's dental impressions sold for $1,500 on eBay

A Massachusetts man has sold dental impressions made for the late musician Tiny Tim on eBay for $1,500, according to a story in the Eagle-Tribune newspaper.

Before he died of a heart attack in 1996 at the age of 64, Tiny Tim -- a novelty musician best known for his falsetto rendition of "Tiptoe Through the Tulips" -- was contemplating oral surgery, the Eagle-Tribune reported.

Brian Blouin, who has collected numerous Tiny Tim memorabilia over the years and had been a friend of the family, said the dentist-made impressions were purchased after five days of auction by Randy Reeves, an accountant from Rockwall, TX.

Blouin first met Tiny Tim -- real name Herbert Khaury -- at an autograph signing when he was 16, he told the Eagle-Tribune. The musician's wife gave him the dental impressions in 1997.

"She was going to throw them out," he told the Eagle-Tribune.

A total of 16 bids were placed on the dental impressions, the highest at $200, according to the news story. But the auction closed April 11 when Reeves bought the impressions for the "Buy It Now" price of $1,500.
