OSHA's Bloodborne Pathogens Standard:

Series 1-5

COURSE DESCRIPTION:
OSHA's Bloodborne Pathogens Standard was issued on December 6, 1991, and became effective in 1992. The standard defines the dentist's obligation to protect employees from occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens. The primary intent of the Bloodborne Pathogens Standard is to eliminate and/or minimize occupational exposure to the hepatitis B virus (HBV), human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) and other bloodborne pathogens by adopting universal precautions for blood and other potentially infectious materials.

The Bloodborne Pathogens Standard applies to all employees who are at risk for exposure to blood, saliva or other potentially infectious body fluids.
