Carestream Health said it will provide digital medical and dental imaging technology to the Olympic Village Polyclinic in Beijing for the upcoming 2008 Olympic Games.
The Rochester, NY-based vendor will provide two DirectView DR 9500 systems, five DirectView DR 3500 systems, a DirectView CR 975 system, a Point-of-Care CR-ITX 550 system, and its Carestream radiology information system (RIS), picture archiving and communications system (PACS), and Enterprise Information Management system. Carestream will also provide three DryView 6800 laser imagers to the Polyclinic, as well as an additional DR 3500 system for a satellite hospital in Beijing.
For dental imaging, dentists and their assistants will use Carestream Health's digital imaging systems and film for intraoral and extraoral dental exams. Kodak RVG 6000 digital radiography and Kodak 2200 intraoral x-ray systems will be used for intraoral exams. The Kodak 8000C digital panoramic system will be used for extraoral exams.
Dental images will be stored on the PACS and shared with radiologists in heavy facial trauma cases requiring consultation, according to the company. The imaging systems also will include software that enables remote diagnosis and medical image sharing with offsite or remote hospitals.
In other Carestream news, the company has named Bruce Leidal as chief information officer. He comes to Carestream after most recently serving as chief information officer for automotive supplier Hayes Lemmerz International.
