Digital tool aids x-ray training; chewable toothpaste enters U.S. market

Dental students at the University of Queensland gave high marks to a digital learning tool developed by faculty there, saying it improved their ability to learn craniofacial anatomy and thus interpret radiographic images. In Restoratives Community news, tooth extractions are commonly associated with pulling, yanking, and a fair amount of trauma. But a novel atraumatic extraction tool can make the entire process much less stressful for both the patient and practitioner, according to a presentation at the recent Western Regional Dental Conference.

And the manner in which dentifrices are delivered has altered little since the first tube of toothpaste was filled more than 100 years ago. But that could change with the introduction of chewable toothpaste tablets, which are less messy and more environmentally friendly.
