Calif. imaging centers upgrade to AFP's NewTom VGi

McCormack Dental Imaging and C-Dental X-Ray -- the largest customers of the NewTom 3D cone-beam scanners in the U.S. -- have upgraded all 12 of their locations from AFP Imaging's NewTom 3G to the NewTom VGi, the company announced.

Additionally, McCormack Dental Imaging has expanded its service to include 3D mobile imaging, according to AFP. This latest mobile cone-beam CT unit will operate out of San Diego County.

C-Dental X-Ray has provided the San Francisco Bay Area dental community with imaging services for more than 70 years and currently has seven locations. When asked about the blanket upgrade to the VGi, CEO Jerry Peck said, "With the responsibility of owning multiple dental imaging centers, I've always felt the most important ideal to hold on to is the ALARA principle (as low as reasonably acceptable) with respect to x-ray radiation dose. NewTom is one cone-beam CT manufacturer in dental radiography that truly adheres to the ALARA concept."
