Safegide, developer of a proprietary, 3D-guided dental surgery system, will launch its new guided surgery technology at the Greater New York Dental Meeting (GNYDM), November 24-28, to be held November 24-28 in New York City.
Safegide's technology has the ability to reduce the risks and expense of dental implant placement by reducing the need for cone-beam CT scans and laboratory fabricated surgical guides, according to the company.
This new technology is manufactured using Safegide's formulations of x-ray visible plastics molded in layers to provide essential anatomic information inside the jawbone when using a regular dental x-ray machine.
The technology was developed by Howard Katz, DDS, who is known for having developed many of the uses for Botox in dentistry and inventing a drug (OraVerse) to rapidly reverse local anesthesia. Safegide's technology was developed after his father died as a result of a prolonged dental implant procedure.
Dr. Katz will present two courses at the GNYDM that will show dentists how to simplify implant planning and placement by incorporating this new technology.
