Sirona Q4 revenues edge lower

Sirona Dental Systems announced a 2.8% decline in revenue for the fourth quarter of 2010 (end-Sepember 30), while net income slipped as well.

Revenue was $182.9 million, a decrease of $5.3 million from the $188.1 million the company announced for the same quarter last year. Net income for the fourth quarter of 2010 was $24.7 million, compared with $26.7 million in the prior-year period.

The company saw growth in certain business segments such as treatment centers (11.0%) and imaging systems (0.9%), while other segments such as instruments and CAD/CAM declined 4.2% and 13.8%, respectively.

U.S. revenue declined 15.1%, due to the timing of CAD/CAM shipments, which had helped drive U.S. revenue growth of 33.7% in the third quarter of 2010. Outside the U.S., revenue increased 2.8%, with very strong growth in Asia Pacific and the Middle East, and solid growth in Europe.

The company expects to achieve fiscal 2011 revenue growth at constant currency rates in the range of 7% to 9%. Operating income excluding amortization expense is now expected to be in the range of $200 million to $208 million.
