Dentsply Sirona has signed a five-year collaboration agreement with Smile Train to support that organization's work to provide access to cleft palate care. To that end, Dentsply will make a $5 million donation to Smile Train.
Cleft care includes dental and orthodontic treatment, speech therapy, and social and emotional support, the company said. Through the partnership, Dentsply and Smile Train will support the development of global standards for digitized cleft care, provide equipment to cleft treatment centers, offer clinical education courses, and provide financial support for cleft surgeries.
The collaboration will also include the development of an international Smile Train scholars program that will support the training and education of Smile Train partners.
In other Dentsply Sirona news, the company plans to rebrand its implant business as DS Implants. The revamp includes three new workflows:
- Single Tooth Signature
- Partial Multiple Tooth Replacement Signature
- Full Arch Signature
The rebrand also includes the launch of DS PrimeTaper, a "self-tapping implant with a tapered design," the company said.
