Sapphire Technology has introduced a new line of composite instruments.
The SGS sapphire-tipped composite instruments line consists of 1.5- and 2.0-mm instruments. They are highly machined and polished, and the instruments are virtually nonporous for reduced adhesion and pullback during composite placement, according to the company.
The sapphire tips are one magnitude of hardness below that of a diamond, so they will not degrade or pit because of autoclave sterilization, the company noted.
