The Delta Dental of Minnesota Foundation has donated $4.6 million to help build a new dental clinic at the Hennepin County Medical Center (HCMC) in Minneapolis.
The Delta Dental Oral Health Center at HCMC is part of a new $220.8 million clinic and specialty building. The grant will fund in-clinic dental services for highly complex patients at the center, according to the foundation.
The clinic will treat 85% of HCMC's dental patients who are covered by public programs, are uninsured, or qualify as low-income residents. The center will allow for an estimated additional 11,000 visits, for a total of 27,500 patient visits annually.
The grant will help expand capacity in the center to a total of 30 treatment rooms and two consult rooms with teledentistry capabilities. It will also support a state-of-the-art lab, expand space for advanced dental education, and improve accessibility for patients with special needs.
