The global medical ceramics market, which includes dental implants, may reach $16.3 billion by 2020, according to a report from research firm MarketsandMarkets.
Dental and orthopedic implants and increasing global demand for implantable devices are fueling the market, the company said in a press release. The report also cites medical tourism from the U.S. and U.K. shifting to countries such as China, Malaysia, and India.
Dental implants are the largest application of medical ceramics worldwide, with alumina, titanium, and zirconia as the major materials used, MarketsandMarkets said.
