3M and Zirkonzahn have settled a patent infringement lawsuit involving 3M's technology that enables precise sintering of dental ceramics.
In June 2015, 3M filed a lawsuit against Zirkonzahn and Zirkonzahn Deutschland in a district court in Germany. Zirkonzahn is a dental products company based out of the South Tyrol province in Italy. The lawsuit alleged Zirkonzahn's instructions for sintering zirconia blocks infringed on one of 3M's European patents.
Zirkonzahn agreed to license 3M's patented technology as a result of the settlement. Zirkonzahn will also continue to license the technology until the end of the patent protection period.
