CHICAGO - Carestream Dental has released the latest version of its Logicon caries detector, version 5.1, at the 2015 Chicago Dental Society Midwinter Meeting.
Logicon 5.1 is an FDA-approved computer-aided radiographic caries diagnosis software that helps practitioners detect and treat interproximal caries at an early stage, enabling minimally invasive treatments.
The new version further automates the detection process and produces improved displays of caries sites, making exams and diagnoses more efficient, according to the company. Another new feature, PreScan, scans a radiographic image and applies a detection algorithm on all eligible interproximal surfaces to generate a view of potential caries, helping users verify manual findings by focusing on surfaces that need further investigation.
"Radiographs captured using the new enhancements of Logicon 5.1 serve as a reference for practitioners to help identify caries and prevent misdiagnosis of healthy teeth," stated Ed Shellard, DMD, chief commercial officer of Carestream Dental, in a press release. "These latest software improvements further enhance the detection process."
