3M ESPE has released its new Filtek Bulk Fill posterior restorative, a one-step placement bulk fill material that delivers stress relief, excellent wear resistance, and the ability to place up to 5 mm in one increment, offering dentists a fast and easy option for direct restorations, according to the company.
As about 70% of restorations are placed in the posterior, according to the company, this restorative includes two novel methacrylate monomers that act in combination to lower polymerization stress. The use of these monomers enables bulk placement without sacrificing strength or wear resistance.
This technology was codeveloped through collaboration with Christopher Bowman, PhD, from the University of Colorado, with the financial support of the National Institutes of Health.
"With the majority of restorations placed in the posterior, dentists need a material that can help them save chair time while delivering results they can be confident in," said Nikki McKeon, U.S. marketing manager for direct restoratives. "Filtek Bulk Fill posterior restorative gives them a fast and simple one-step placement solution."
Dental professionals can see and learn about Filtek Bulk Fill posterior restorative at 3M ESPE's booth at the ADA 2014 annual meeting, held October 9-11 in San Antonio.
