The California Dental Association (CDA) Foundation has approved $500,000 from its restricted fluoridation funds to be used to support a new Santa Clara Valley Water District community water fluoridation system.
The entire system will cost $6.6 million, according to the CDA. In addition to the CDA Foundation funds, which will go toward construction costs, Health Trust is contributing $1 million and First 5 Santa Clara County is contributing $900,000 to the project.
The CDA and the CDA Foundation have a long history of supporting water fluoridation and will continue their efforts to ensure more communities across California reach optimal levels of fluoride in their water supplies, the association noted in a press release.
