Biolase has received 510(k) clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and CE Mark approval for its Epic 10 diode soft-tissue laser.
The laser allows for cleaner cutting, better hemostasis, improved patient comfort, and greater versatility, according to the company. It also features an applications-based user interface with a touchscreen preprogrammed with 15 commonly performed soft-tissue procedures, including pain therapy in the oral-maxillofacial region.
The Epic 10 also incorporates ComfortPulse, Biolase's proprietary technology that allows dentists to precisely control the level of laser energy that penetrates the target tissue, the company noted.
